Student Mobilisation Officer

Job Summary: You will have principal responsibility for co-ordinating FFS’s
student mobilisation activities and events in universities and FE colleges.


Main Duties
To manage the logistics, operations and administration of FFS People’s Vote
events and stalls at students’ unions.

This will include:

● Designing and delivering innovative events and activities to engage students and young people
● Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts at
various university campuses, colleges and schools. In particular, this will
include working closely with student unions and political societies
● Work with university societies to elevate the voices of groups marginalised in the Brexit debate (e.g. women, ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, etc.)
● Maintaining and updating a database of key contacts including MPs, societies and stakeholders
● Managing production of event materials and liaising with other suppliers
where required (e.g. AV, staging, catering etc)
● Handling queries from key stakeholders (e.g. MPs, student union leaders,
etc.)
● Assisting and supporting speakers and facilitators (this can include booking travel, accommodation, compiling presentations, circulating agendas, etc.)
● Travelling to events in different parts of the UK to provide on the day
support and helping to manage event logistics (AV, registration, venue
liaison etc)
● Organising post-event follow-up (including evaluation analysis) and
post-event communications
● Recording expenditure and income, and maintaining event budgets
● Engaging national and local media with student mobilisation activity
● Sourcing and curating content from student mobilisation activities for our social media channels
● Supporting broader FFS campaign work, including contributing to articles, speaking at events, liaising with key senior stakeholders, etc.

Essential
● Excellent organisational skills
● Flexibility and adaptability
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to prioritise, multitask and juggle a busy workload
● Capable of leading and managing projects across the FFS campaign
● Enthusiastic team player
● Strong attention to detail
● Good familiarity with Microsoft Office package
● Willing to work evenings and early mornings as per needs of the campaign

Desirable
● Event planning experience
● Confident user of social media platforms
● Strong understanding of how student unions at university and/or FE colleges operate
● Good understanding of the political system at a national and local level
